A job at the same tobacco project

Let me give you a brief history of my relationship with Rein and Saskia.
It started in 1966 when I joined Deventer College and deventer Landbouw Corps. There at the initiation period of the DLC Rein was part of the system I guide us into the important mysteries of life. In my case this has not stopped. On consecutive years while I was still in Deventer we met up when Rein and Saskia were visiting Deventer on holidays. When I finished Deventer with the help of Rein and Pa Meyer I managed to get a job on the same tobacco project (EU) in the then and now again DRC, Katanga as Rein and Saskia. And again both Rein and Saskia were there to initiate me into the mysteries of Africa this time. We lived about 60 Km apart, this took about 2 to 3 hours driving. I was very fortunate that I could visit them over weekends and have social contact since I was living quite isolated with only catholic and baptist missionaries to entertain me. I then decided to float down to Zambia and first started working first for a parastatal tobacco company and as a farm manager which financially was not a great success but socially a great time I even got married. The beginning of the eighties times got hard but I managed to visit Holland and a must Rein and Saskia. And again Rein said, Zambia difficult, why not try DGIS there might be a job in Burkina Fasso, for which I duly applied and in principle got accepted for. At the same time there was a job going in Zambia for DGIS and was persuaded to take up that job. I was doing this job for couple years and who pops up as my boss at the Embassy Rein and we took up our friendship/relationship where left off. I was glad that at that time I was able to give some moral support in a difficult time. And again that taught me how to deal with some of my own difficulties later on. Then Rein and Saskia went of to do some Embassy work over Africa and Eastern Europe but kept track thanks to Saskia because we boys do not write. Then our last meeting was in Lusaka when Rein was doing election monitoring for the EU. I know that meeting will not be our last because I will be spending more time in Europe. We have a House in Exeter Devon beautiful when it does not rain and you always welcome and will visit Holland more often.Rein many happy returns and all the best wishes.Rein and Saskia I know that thank you is not enough, but thank you for the support and help through out the years.

Greetings and love from Dorus, Jane, Jason, Thomas
