'Out of sight' is not 'out of mind'

Dear Rein en Saskia,

You’ve reached this together and I wish to congratulate both of you.

You came to Deventer just a few years before me and many of my fond memories of that special period include both of you, and since then we have seen each other not nearly often enough – sorry for that.

One of the sad aspects of our overseas lives is that one always seems to have too little time to really keep in touch with the good people you really wish to see more off. The times when we are in NL always seems to gravitate towards our two kids to the detriment of our families and friends.

We will retire in one or two years and have also decided, like you, to put (some of) our roots in another country. We bought a plot of land on the Kenyan Coast and will start building a house in Kilifi actually over the next few weeks. High on our ‘to-do’ list is an eventual trip to RSA by car and to come and see you at your home there and do some catching up. Something I look much forward to. In the meantime you remain of course always welcome to visit us here at the Sotik Tea Company in Kenya, a beautiful place.

Remember ‘out if sight’ is not necessarily ‘out of mind,’ we wish you a very nice time.

Maarten and Elfried Hoogeweegen
Sotik, Kenya
